INCORRECTLY LISTED BY USFS, NO HORSES ALLOWED
This camp is located in Southern Oregon and is listed by the United States Forest Service as open to Horseback Riding and Horse Camping. I explored the area and found this to be wrong.
Upon exploring the camp, the sign board didn’t specify anything to whether horses are allowed or not. However, the loops are tight, the site driveways far too small for even a small truck/trailer combo and no sites appeared appropriate for high lines or had room for portable corrals.
Next, I checked the day use parking. In theory, a small rig could park here. However, the one trail into this camp was marked for hikers and bikers; no horse designation. The trails that depart from this camp, Fish Lake Trail #1013 and High Lakes Trail #6200, are not open to horses.
There is nearby access to the Pacific Crest Trail, but that can be better accessed via Summit Sno-Park/Trailhead just down the road.
