Wallowa Lake Trailhead is located in Eastern Oregon just outside of Joseph, OR. This trailhead provides access to the steep rugged country of the Eagle Cap Wilderness. Enjoy bigs views, alpine meadows and wander along the river. This wilderness area is one of the most rugged in Oregon so plan ahead and bring a fit horse and your ten essentials.

Parking: Dedicated trailer parking along the side of the road – room for 1-3 trailers depending on size. Turnaround at dead end.

- Six Mile Meadow – 6 miles
- Frazier Lake – 9.8 miles
- Glacier Lake – 12.1 miles
- Ice Lake – 7.3 miles
- Aneroid Lake – 5.7 miles
- Indian Crossing Campround – 22.2 miles
Facilities: Hitching post.
Permits: Self-issued wilderness permit.
Water Sources: East and West Forks of the Wallowa River nearby but unknown how easy stock access is. Bring a bucket just in case.
Backcountry Sites: Yes commonly used by outfitteres but unknown specifics on sites. If you have backcountry information please email adventure.equines@gmail.com to add to the site.
Cell Service: Verizon – no service.

Directions: From Joseph, Oregon, follow State Highway #82 south for 7 miles to the end and Wallowa Lake Trailhead.
Road Conditions: Paved, great condition. Year-round access. Watch for tourists walking down the road.
