Join us for a recap of our recent pack trip along the John Muir trail. We will discuss the planning process, logistics and obstacles faced to ride one of the most renowned trails in the US.

Three Sisters Wilderness offers some of the most scenic riding in Oregon. We will explain the permit process for day rides, overnights and what to do if your desired trailhead permit isn’t available.

Learn what items to carry on you in case of emergency, the 10 essentials and more.

Choosing a campsite for your stock and how to Leave No Trace in our fragile landscapes, all while remaining ultralight.

Discover what we carry in our first aid kits, what can be dual purpose between yourself and your horse – and how to pack it minimally.

Group Demonstration

One of the most important skills for backcountry travel is navigation & SOS communications. We will discuss the different Garmin InReach options, how to use them and what you should know before you head out.


Demonstration of mobile apps for route tracking during ride; Gaia, AllTrails and Avenza.


Learn route planning, campsite planning, water/feeding planning and gpx files using Gaia desktop.


Do you know how to read the terrain on a topo map? We will teach the basics so you can predict what type of terrain you will be riding.

Hands On Skills

Learn the advantages of different water filtration systems and which one you should carry in your 10 essential bag.

Learn to tie a highline and options for an ultralight version.

Try out different ultralight stoves and learn about the different methods of backcountry cooking.

 

Bonus: We will have some ultralight highline and grooming kits available for sale or order.

 

Clinic cost is $100 per person. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot.
