A mustang, a safe place, and the quiet teacher behind everything we do.
The universe intended for us to meet, I have no doubt in that. Out of all the horses in the world, Moqui stands out as my rock, my best friend and my partner through highs and lows. I hope each and every one of you gets to meet him someday.
His early life;
Born in the unforgiving, high elevation desert of Western Utah. Moqui was gathered by the BLM in 2017 from the Conger Herd Management Area. The herd survives in harsh weather conditions that go beyond triple digits in the summer and sub zero in the winter. Walking many miles between food and water daily. That environment shapes a kind of horse that is naturally fit, deeply resilient, and thoughtful in how he moves through the world.
For those that understand energy;
Moqui has that presence. The one where you feel in awe, the one you know something magical is close by, the feeling of sharing space with a true wild soul. And once you’re in his circle, you feel protected by something you can’t quite put your finger on. Sharing space with him feels grounding, protective and rare. All I can say is, it’s magical.
For those that have yet to connect with energy;
He’s a heart horse. The good boi. The all-rounder. The one you’d turn down a million dollar cash offer for without hesitation. The one you can pull out after months and know you’re safe. The one who follows fresh bear tracks like it’s no big deal. He’s the horse every girl dreams of.
On the trail;
Moqui has thousands of backcountry miles on his resume and he is absolutely solid. Wildlife is no issue. Traveling across the west coast no issue. Highlining on less than ideal spots that most horses would break loose, no issue. He will join the campfire circle (no joke), ride through the dark woods under only a crescent moon to light the way and take me down the trail without a bridle.
But he’s not just a trail horse;
Versatile. That’s what mustangs are. We are here to show the world that mustangs can hold their own. They can compete in the same rings as every other popular breed. We can show up to a dressage court, jump a cross country course, sort cows or demonstrate precision in Working Equitation. Silly horse tricks? Yep, he’s got those too. Bridleless? No problem. Novice lesson horse? He can fill in for that, too, if needed.
This is the kind of reliability mustangs bring with them; shaped by survival, refined by partnership.

In the ring;
Moqui’s accomplishments aren’t listed to separate him from other mustangs—but to show what’s possible when a horse is given time, a voice, and ethical training. Across endurance, dressage, and open performance disciplines, he has consistently shown that mustangs are capable of excelling in both competitive and real-world settings.
A few small accomplishments;
- 2021 AERC 30 Mile LD Completed – Antelope Island, Utah
- 2022 Donida Year End Champion – In Hand – 81% High Score
- 2022 FVC Fall Finale League – Adult Amateur High Point
- 2022 American Competitive Mustang Club – Top 10 Trail Horse
- 2022 American Competitive Mustang Club – Top 10 English Performance
- 2024 TBEA Winter Solstice Training Level Champion – Open Division
- 2024 North American Mustang Association & Registry End of Year Dressage Champion
- 2025 North American Mustang Association & Registry End of Year Dressage Reserve Champion
But what’s next?
We plan with intention—and we dream big.
Moqui will be campaigning for USDF All-Breed Awards in 2026, continuing to show that mustangs belong in competitive arenas built for any breed. Beyond the ring, we’re preparing for a 2027 through-ride of Oregon, prioritizing safe travel, self-sufficiency, and the kind of partnership required for long miles and unknown terrain.
But titles and miles are not the point.
Most importantly Moqui isn’t here to be an exception. He’s here to be an example. Of what mustangs are capable of. Of what ethical horsemanship builds. Of what happens when a once-shy horse from the desert is given space and voice to become everything he already was.
