Moqui came into my life in 2022 after I thought I’d never find my true partner. A little mustang from Utah, from an HMA with ugly rumors about how defensive, untrainable and aggressive they are. Moqui isn’t that, Moqui is a diamond of a mustang. With me as his voice, he shows the world everything a mustang is capable of. There’s no horse I trust more in the backcountry than him. Together we’re accomplishing things I’ve only dreamed of. Moqui is what dreams are made of. Follow our journey, love a mustang, join the adventure.

Spending her entire life in the Northwest exploring some of the most off grid places – Niki has tallied up thousands of trail miles via both horse packing and hiking. I have a passion for lighting the fire in others – and my goal is to show others that they can also take the jump and enjoy the backcountry.

Niki is a registered veterinary technician, an equine bodyworker and is wilderness first aid/CPR certified. She teaches ultralight horse packing throughout the Pacific Northwest, and is expanding throughout the west coast in Summer of 2026.

From venturing on the the technical John Muir Trail, to being one of only 5 groups to ever attempt the Sisters Loop – she has the miles and experience to teach you how to confidently hit the backcountry with your horse.
