This brand new camp in the Mt Hood National Forest on Timothy Lake was recently completed and opened July 2025. Providing closer access to the lake than nearby Clackamas Lake and Joe Graham camps, and can accommodate large groups. This camp also shortens Timothy Lake Loop by a few miles.

Each group site allows up to 36 people, enough corrals for 16 horses, and plenty of parking for both trailers and normal vehicles.

Camp Overview

Campsites: 2 group sites, each with 4 sets of 4-horse corrals and 9 to 10 campsites.
Fees: $156/night, +$2/night holidays. 50% off with Interagency Access Pass or Senior Passes.
Permits: None for overnight users. Day use requires NW Forest Pass, Interagency Pass, National Forest Recreation Day Pass or $10 day use fee.
Popularity: Unknown – too new to know.
Elevation: 3,200 feet
Season: July – September
Cell Service: Not in camp, but some spotty Verizon service around the lake and down the road.

Getting There

Directions: From Sandy, OR – Travel east on U.S. Highway 26 for approximately 40 miles to Skyline Road (Forest Road 42). Turn right on Skyline Road, travel south 9 miles. Turn right on Forest Service Road 57, west 3 miles, turn at the Stone Creek Campground entrance sign.

Gas Station: Chevron Government Camp – This spot is pricey, if you have the ability – fill up in Sandy, OR for a lot less.

Amenities & Camp Details

Stock Containment: Individual corrals, no place to highline. Trailer parking areas are large enough to set up your own corrals or highline off trailer.
Stock Water: Yes – spigots.
Potable Water: Yes – spigots.
Manure Bin: None – must bag and put in manure dumpsters.
Trash/Dumpster: Yes.
Bathroom: Yes – vault.
Day Use Parking: Yes – area for 1-2 trailers on side of road before entering group camp.

Site Specifics:

East Loop: This loop has 10 campsites. Corrals visible from campsites.
West Loop: First set of corrals is back in the forest a bit and away from campsites. This loop has 9 campsites.

Each loop has a bathroom, water spigot and a communal area with picnic tables and BBQ grill.
